Is Heavy Rotation Slutty? - You Decide

UPDATE: Check out an English translation and information about the director here.

What is slutty is a matter of opinion.  Not wearing a burqa may make others think you are a whore.  Not saying that any of those moral guidelines that anyone has is wrong.  Again, all a matter of opinion.  I am just going to help those who are unsure or maybe want to reprocess their opinion of this PV.  No one likes a hypocrite.  A slut is someone who behaves in what someone else deems as overly sexual and inappropriate.  It is an issue of behavior and self presentation.  For example:

<- Not Slutty

Slutty->

Warning: You may not agree, but that is fine.  Just a personal example.

It is not a matter of purely how little or much clothing they are wearing, although that usual plays a major factor.  What is key in this grey area is taste.

Now lets go over the scenes under question:
  • The Cat Outfits
  • Lingerie
  • Matsui Rena in the Bathtub
  • The Underwear Flashes
  • Girl On Girl Kisses
Some of these things you just might not enjoy period.  That is fine.  However, should you be calling the PV or the girls slutty?
Just take a look and think it over.
Are you really surprised by what was included?  Is this content new for AKB48?

The industry, in almost every county, will always try to push the boundaries.  People will find it sexy and others will believe it goes too far.  I'm still confused about my feelings towards Maki Goto's single Some Boys Touch.  Plus, AKB48 is suppose to be more adult than Hello Project. We'll just have to leave it at we agree to disagree.

The whole 13/14 year old in a bathtub is suggestive, but also shows less skin than if she was in lingerie.  I think it is fine because you don't see anything, it is only for a couple seconds, and everyone takes baths, but you can decide what you think.

  1. The video is not slutty at all.

my main reason for not liking this PV is just personal insercurites really but i think, after reading a few blogs on this PV, is that this comes so soon after the Ponytail PV and all the elements are so random.

I feel that the whole Jurina in the tub thing is extremly bad taste just because of her age and nothing more. It's not like they could have put her in Lingerie abd those cat costumes cos i think that would have been better but they are trying to push the boundaries but this time it's failed.

  2. Good article. No one else is comparing this video to other idols that are doing the same exact thing.

I don't really find this PV to be slutty. And I actually have no problem with the video either. The lingerie scenes show about as much skin as bikinis do. And yet people don't make a big fuss over bikinis. I think it's because underwear is always scene as taking it too far, but there's really no difference between the two.

The kissing isn't really a big deal either. H!P girls have kissed in concert a bunch of times. I chalk it up to just being fanservice. They do it solely for the fan's enjoyment. Just like Miyavi has said before he finds it disgusting to kiss a man, yet he still does it for the fans. And no one is calling him a slut. XD

The bathtub scene might be too much, but you literally see that scene for 15 seconds. And you're shown absolutely nothing. If the girls stood up and only had bubbles covering their private parts, that would have been too much. But the scene the way it is, isn't that big of a deal.

But people are always going to have a problem with this kind of thing. Even if every girl was of age, some people would still see something wrong with it. Some people just have strong opinions on the matter.

  3. Yeah, hebi rote is really not slutty at all compared to what you see everyday in japanese magazines. Those girls pose regularly in bikinis and other revealing outfits accentuating their butts/thighs/breast. they are just selling their sex appeal as part of their music. not slutty... really...

YOU WROTE THE SAME COMMENT ON TWO OF MY MOST VIEWED POSTS. Did you not notice that there is a comment update thingy at the top of my page, you could of waited until one was gone so perhaps no one would notice. Dude, I'm not going to follow you.

I do not recommend following this guy's blog just because of the stupid stunts he's pulled. (Plus, his blog isn't in English. . . so I can't read it anyway.)

  7. The only part that definitely IS slutty is Tomochin looking at the camera in a suggestive way with cream smeared on her face. That was bad (it was reminiscent of a certain...porn shot). The rest of the PV was fine, and it'd still be fine for people without dirty minds like us adults. Ha!

  8. Whats wrong with having a dirty mind? I do agree that shot was questionable. I'm curious how that came about because (Tomochin is totally married to Tomo~mi and) they had a female director for that shoot.

  10. If you guys haven't seen Akimoto's interview with CNN you should because he defends this specific music video. I mentioned that they had a female director, Mika Ninagawa. She is the director of the much talked about upcoming film Helter Skelter. She is an award winning photographer, known for her use of bright colors. I still defend sexuality in AKB48 because even when I was younger those were the things I was interested in. But moving beyond that, this is a work of art. I refer to the film Mona Lisa Smile when I say it isn't art till someone says it is. I say it is art (look at my PV preview post where I rave about the concept). Who are the 'right people' that determine if something is art or not? [I guess this is an update on my opinion.]

  11. Do you know of a link to said CNN interview? Or better still, an English transcript?
